  Are They Cynically Shutting Down The Organization?

  i've raised this idea before but recent events seem to support it.

  changes in the watchtower may be guided by more than a need for cash flow: they may simply be liquidating/shutting it down as discreetly as possible.. of course, this doesn't mean they stop working on their upstate ny country club - but it could mean that the throrough going exposure and disproof of their beliefs on the internet, when it emerged, took many of them by surprize, as it did many of us!

  after awhile, they generally gave up trying to make any sense of their doctrines - and coupled with cash flow issues - moved towards a quiet retreat.. take a look at a few things:.

  Metatron... very good points you make about the LDS hiearchal structure. Looks they're pretty solid so far... Also, Mormons have learned the value of diversification.. For example, a few years ago, they started peddling home security systems door-to-door (APX Alarms)... Maybe we'll soon see JWs selling surplus furniture door to door (from all the bethel branches that are closing down).

  Lease cars for circuit overseers (worldwide arrangement)

  yesterday evening a letter of the dutch (netherlands) branch of the watchtower society was read to the congregation.

  it stated that the governing body has made a new arrangement for circuit overseers worldwide: the society provides a lease car.

  it was backed with some bible texts (...) and the conclusion was that it was financial cheaper for the congregations.

  In the US, it appears Circuit Overseers get brand new Buick LaCrosses... every 3 years.

  I'm curious to know what Circuit Overseers drive in other parts of the world... (Maybe I'll start a separate thread about this and see where it goes...)

  the society as from september 2012 is closing 20 branches worldwide .the best bit is the last paragraph :.

  Those 95 Central American Bethelites who were kicked out of their branches and forced to do full-time field circus under the hot Central American sun must be pissed... As working bethelites, they at least had a sense of dignity and status... Now, they know it will just be a matter of time before that elite status starts to wear off and other JWs start viewing them as needy and burdensome...

  has anyone noticed that all the watchtower buildings in brooklyn are (so far) being sold to real estate investment companies owned and operated by orthodox jews?

  seriously, i couldnt identify one single watchtower building in brooklyn that went to a non-jewish real estate firm.. is the rothschild family finally cashing in on the initial investment they made in the watchtower at the end of the 19th century?

  i have to wonder if they foresee a collapse or mass exodus in the near future and want to cash in their chips before these lose any more value..

  True. But there are also many other large ethnic groups buying up chunks of commercial real estate in the NYC area, most notably and recently, the Chinese... So why is the Watchtower hell bent on only selling to the Jews? And why sell at the worst possible time for real estate?

  There could be something more recent, but the latest fear-mongering that I know of was the Special Talk following the Memorial this year. I believe the title was "Is it later than you think?" ... It appears Armageddon is just around the corner (again)... But this talk was really just a sales pitch to get all the "Inactives" back into the fold as soon as possible before Jehovah closes this short window of opportunity... Same sh*t regurgitated every 3 or 4 years for the past 130 years...

  i just mentioned in another post about a bro that wouldnt shake hands with anyone because it was of pagan origin.. another bro collected fossils that he would show in the ministry for some stupid creationist reason, everywhere he went he talked about jehovah, jehovah, jehovah, no one wanted to work with him, in the workplace or on field service.

  his own wife would hide somewhere when he started his incidental witnessing at shops or on the street.. dont get me started about some of the fruit loop parents and what they put their kids through in the name of jehovah.. what freaks stand out in your memory as fanatical jws?.

  I don't know this guy but there is always a tall gentleman working the corner at my place of employment all by himself. Nothing strange about that, except that he's there between 5AM and 7AM and he distributes at least 30 rags daily. I don't know how he does it, but this guy has a natural ability to put rags in peoples hands when they least expect it... I swear this guy must be a "subpoena server" at his secular job...

  so far, available in english only... i guess there is a lead time for the interpreters.... this presents an opportunity for those who attend non-english congregations to ask their jw friends important questions on this subject, have them research the wt cd and then present this new light as a "possibility".... for example, you can ask them questions like:.

  what would you say if i told you that the governing body no longer represents the annointed (a.k.a the fds)?what would you say if i told you that charles taze russell is no longer considered a part of the faithful & discreet slave?what would you say if i told you that, even though the publications say the fds started in 33, they have only been around for 94 years?i'm pretty sure you will be viewed as an apostate... until this news on the annual meeting shows up in their language.

  For example, you can ask them questions like:

  • What would you say if I told you that the Governing Body NO LONGER represents the annointed (a.k.a the FDS)?
  • What would you say if I told you that Charles Taze Russell is NO LONGER considered a part of the Faithful & Discreet Slave?
  • What would you say if I told you that, even though the publications say the FDS started in 33, they have only been around for 94 years?

  I'm pretty sure you will be viewed as an apostate... until this news on the Annual Meeting shows up in their language. Just a thought...
